Lady Alice - Book versus Movie

The Outsiders book was great- it was the best book I’ve read but the movie was a disappointment. I feel that the film makers had cut out most of the important scenes and dialogue. They also changed many things like Bob’s hair colour and where they live, in the book the Greasers live on the East Side but in the movie they live in the North Side and the Socs live on the South Side instead of the West Side. They also changed how Darry slapped Pony into Darry pushed Pony. Also in the book Dally dies before he hits the ground but in the movie he dies after he hits the ground. Many people’s appearances changed in the movie too.

I hated it how the cut out the events which happened to Soda because he was an important character in the book but in the movie he wasn’t even shown properly. It also erased the things which happened between Pony and Darry which was also an important event in the book. The movie didn’t include Two-Bit fighting with Johnny’s mum- in fact it didn’t even show Johnny’s parents except for their shadows through the window. The part where Pony’s teacher told him to write a story was also cut which was annoying because that was an important thing in the book.

I hope that someone remakes the movie but includes all of the scenes because it was an excellent book which should also be an excellent movie.

Lady Alice - Chapter 1-4

What I think about The Outsiders so far?

The way I felt about the book before I read it was that it was boring because the cover looked dull , plain and boring! Then I started reading the book and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Before I read it Ms Walsh told me about the book and I was so surprised to find out that the book was written by a girl and it was about fights and gangs. I thought this book was going to be lame, I was wrong.

I was shocked when Pony ran away and I was also surprised when Johnny killed that Soc boy because I thought he was weak and wouldn’t be able to kill someone. I was sad when I heard Johnny’s story because he had been through so many tough times at such a young age. I was also surprised when Darry because I thought he would only yell at Pony. This book turned out completely different than what I thought it would be like in the start. It is a great book so far.

Meet...Lady Alice

Hi, Lady Alice here. I am a high school student here in Australia and I love the Twilight series! Why? Because they are awesome and a great read! I love dramatic novels and fantasty (such as Twilight) and I hate (well, not really hate but I don't enjoy) reading history books and poetry because they bore me. Once I started reading a book that I like, I can't stop reading it. I end up staying up all night reading the book or re-reading it a hundred times. I enjoy reading books that make me feel something, like laugh or cry and I like books that have interesting cliffhangers.

My favourite author would have to be Stephenie Meyer (author of the Twilight series and The Host) because she's really talented. Well, that's all about me as a reader. I hope you enjoyed reading about me! See you!
