Renaldo - Book versus Movie

The movie needed many things to be fixed such as in the starting it looked like the end they needed more of an attracting starting and more of an enthusiastic start to attract people and they should have gotten better actors for Johnny because he looked young they needed someone who looked a bit older and looks really tough and strong too. The movie needed the scene were Johnny kills Bob Sheldon they needed to make it more horror and how angry and bitter Johnny was so they can tell people that the greasers are very tough people and very serious with fights and having problems with the Socials. They didn’t make more sad when Johnny was dead on the movie they just made it sort of but still they needed to make it more saddening because in the book it was really sad and it seemed that life is finished for Pony boy or when he was pretending that he wasn’t dead or when he fainted the movie actor was suppose to make like more of realistic and dramatic and for the scene when Darry rubbed the grocery store in the part while he was running away or when he called Soda Pop the movie director should have made the police more bloody.

In the rumble I think they should’ve made it more aggressive and bloodless because and that is how people use to communicate long ago in the old days .I think they really needed that scene when soda pop ran they had to chase him because it explains their life situation and their family situation too they needed that to show to people how some people have a hard life situation.

The should have included the scene where the English teacher needed to talk to pony boy about his grades so people can find how the life situation and family can affect your studying and grades too.

Bart E. Simpson - Book versus Movie

The movie didn’t explain the story line tin depth as much as the book. There were parts missing from the movie were in the book, such as:
· The book captured the viewers better because the movie was really short. The book explained the storyline a lot better and the movie didn’t show Johnny’s mum or the death of Bob.
· The movie didn’t show the whole story that was in the book and they cut out all the good parts from the movie that’s why it didn’t make sense to me.
· The book has more emotions that the movie because you could actually feel everything that happens in the book.
· The book explained the character more into depth then the movie because the movie was confusing and you couldn’t tell the characters that well.

The movie didn’t interest me as much as the book because the movie didn’t make sense.

There were many differences from my part. I got 23 but I think I missed some, they did show the credits are the start and at the end. There was some more speech and some words that were not included in the book, there were more swear words, they didn’t show what was going on in their heads which made the movie shorter, there wasn’t a narrator, when Pony got home from the lot Darry pushed him instead of slapping him, the word Socs was pronounced differently, they didn’t show the church. There was supposed to be a note that Johnny wrote when he went to get supplies (not in the dirt). Their hair didn’t fit the description, they played cards for weed, and they didn’t show Johnny’s mother and the argument. When they did flips off the car they show have done it off the door step. They didn’t say the rhyme about the Socs being losers, in the rumble it rains, the fight is different. Dally called them to a different place, Pony didn’t call the teacher and Soda busted out of the house. They didn’t have the big Pony and Darry fight or Sandy breaking up with Soda.

The three things I liked:
1. I liked the rumble, I don’t know why but it looked like the main event to me.
2. I liked when Bob died, it opened up the story and made some events happen.
3. When Dally dies and when Johnny does, that brought sadness to the story which closed it up and put some more feelings to the story.

There were some parts that were good but I think these were the best in the movie and story because they have the most feeling.

The three things I hated:
1. The movie was too short, if I watched the movie by itself I would rate it 4/10 but the book was so outstanding it practically killed the movie.
2. It had way too many scenes skipped which brought the movie down to a 4/10. If they put more time and effort, the outcome would have been better.
3. There were not enough scenes. They could have made the movie longer and better. When they meet and spoke it was very fast, not feeling just what they are trying to point out.

So far book 7/10. Movie 4/10. Hopefully there will be a remake.

Moose#7 - Book versus Movie

In the movie, there were some things that bothered me because they were not included. The first thing would have to be the fact that they did not show the court case. I find this kind of peculiar. I mean that if I go walking down the road now and have a switchblade in my pocket, I can not kill a pedestrian and then someone would say “good work”. It just does not work like that. There are some things in this world that need to be demonstrated, and one of them would be getting the right punishment if you do something wrong, like what Johnny did to Bob Sheldon. I think that if something that seems to be serious in the book, then it should be added in the movie. The movie seemed to be a little bit short and if they added this it could have made the movie more interesting.

For the second thing, I cannot go past the part where Ponyboys teacher, Mr Syme, called him back after class because he wanted to talk to him about his grades falling. This was obviously happening because after the ordeal Pony went through, everything cannot go back to normal in the blink of an eye. But still, this was something major that happened. Without that scene, a fair bit of the story had changed. If we did not read the story, we would not understand anything that happened in the movie. You could say that the movie was kind of muddled up because of some scenes. In the movie, the ending happened just like that. But in the book it was more appropriate because Pony was writing the story for his teacher. It was a really good ending just because of that one scene. The ending of the book was probably the best thing that happened.

The last thing that bothered me was when they did not record the scene when Sodapop just lost it and ended up bursting out of the house. When I read this part, I thought that this was something that would bring them a lot closer. Soda ran out because of the letter which he wrote to Sandy. But maybe because they had that little talk afterwards, it could probably help take Sodas mind off of Sandy. I think that if they done this scene in the movie, it would have turned out very good and now they would never have to fight again which can help them get their minds off the recent events, including their parents’ death. If they added that in the movie it would make more sense to the people who are going to watch the movie.

Some of the main things that they missed out on in the movie were when Two-Bit started bagging Johnny’s mother, when Ponyboy was relaxing in bed, the part where Pony was not afraid to kill the Socs with his pop bottle and one which I think was most important, they did not have an introduction in the movie. It was just straight to the drive-in. Taking into consideration these things, I would give the movie 6/10 and the book, a hearty 10/10.

Lady Alice - Book versus Movie

The Outsiders book was great- it was the best book I’ve read but the movie was a disappointment. I feel that the film makers had cut out most of the important scenes and dialogue. They also changed many things like Bob’s hair colour and where they live, in the book the Greasers live on the East Side but in the movie they live in the North Side and the Socs live on the South Side instead of the West Side. They also changed how Darry slapped Pony into Darry pushed Pony. Also in the book Dally dies before he hits the ground but in the movie he dies after he hits the ground. Many people’s appearances changed in the movie too.

I hated it how the cut out the events which happened to Soda because he was an important character in the book but in the movie he wasn’t even shown properly. It also erased the things which happened between Pony and Darry which was also an important event in the book. The movie didn’t include Two-Bit fighting with Johnny’s mum- in fact it didn’t even show Johnny’s parents except for their shadows through the window. The part where Pony’s teacher told him to write a story was also cut which was annoying because that was an important thing in the book.

I hope that someone remakes the movie but includes all of the scenes because it was an excellent book which should also be an excellent movie.

Klark Kent - Book versus Movie

In the movie The Outsiders there wasn’t that much information like the book. The movie didn’t have the part in the rumble when Ponyboy jumped on the socs back and tried to strangle him, the part when Ponyboy threatened the socs with the end of a bottle, and the movie did not give any information about Sandy and Soda pop.

The movie was short and it didn’t give that much details as the book did. What I think is that they should do the movie again and include the missing parts from the book. The Outsiders movie also didn’t show the part when Soda Pop ran out and Ponyboy flew and caught him and how Ponyboy fainted when Dally got killed and woke up two days later.

The movie was good and it was fun, funny and lots of action and I enjoyed it. The part that the movie had to put in was Soda Pop and Sandy’s relationship, and how he received the letter that he gave to sandy unopened, and how Pony Boy was walking down the street after when Jonny died and the man took him for a drive home and he was bleeding on the man’s car seats.

Bart E. Simpson - Chapters 1-4

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

When I first started The Outsiders I thought that it would be very boring and silly but when I started to read the book it was boring and it got better when I started to read it .

Chapter 1
Ponyboy got jumped and he was rescued by the gang just in time from the soc’s.

Chapter 2
The gang goes to the movies and Ponyboy sees Cherry and Marcia.

The chapter that I was shocked about was chapter four when Johnny stabbed Bob to save Ponyboy when the soc’s came to their territory and Jonny and Ponyboy stole their girls.
