Bart E. Simpson - Chapters 1-4

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

When I first started The Outsiders I thought that it would be very boring and silly but when I started to read the book it was boring and it got better when I started to read it .

Chapter 1
Ponyboy got jumped and he was rescued by the gang just in time from the soc’s.

Chapter 2
The gang goes to the movies and Ponyboy sees Cherry and Marcia.

The chapter that I was shocked about was chapter four when Johnny stabbed Bob to save Ponyboy when the soc’s came to their territory and Jonny and Ponyboy stole their girls.

What I think about The Outsiders so far?

I thought that the book was going to be a little bit boring. I thought that it would not really have a meaning, but it turned out that the book has everything that I would want. Humour, action, drama and everything else that I like is in the book.

The things that surprised me a lot so far was when Johnny got jumped by the Socs. It did not really occur to me that it would happen. Darry hitting Ponyboy was something that I thought would not happen. The saddest part for me would just have to be when Ponyboy and Johnny ran away to the old abandoned Church. I did not think that it was the right thing to do. They could have gotten killed. It was really all because of Dally. One of the funniest things for me was when I found out that Sodapop had a horse named Mickey Mouse. Also when Johnny actually killed the Soc, Bob. I thought that Johnny was not that dangerous. The last thing would be when Cherry screamed out that she would go out with Dallas.

Lady Alice - Chapter 1-4

What I think about The Outsiders so far?

The way I felt about the book before I read it was that it was boring because the cover looked dull , plain and boring! Then I started reading the book and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Before I read it Ms Walsh told me about the book and I was so surprised to find out that the book was written by a girl and it was about fights and gangs. I thought this book was going to be lame, I was wrong.

I was shocked when Pony ran away and I was also surprised when Johnny killed that Soc boy because I thought he was weak and wouldn’t be able to kill someone. I was sad when I heard Johnny’s story because he had been through so many tough times at such a young age. I was also surprised when Darry because I thought he would only yell at Pony. This book turned out completely different than what I thought it would be like in the start. It is a great book so far.

Meet...Lady Alice

Hi, Lady Alice here. I am a high school student here in Australia and I love the Twilight series! Why? Because they are awesome and a great read! I love dramatic novels and fantasty (such as Twilight) and I hate (well, not really hate but I don't enjoy) reading history books and poetry because they bore me. Once I started reading a book that I like, I can't stop reading it. I end up staying up all night reading the book or re-reading it a hundred times. I enjoy reading books that make me feel something, like laugh or cry and I like books that have interesting cliffhangers.

My favourite author would have to be Stephenie Meyer (author of the Twilight series and The Host) because she's really talented. Well, that's all about me as a reader. I hope you enjoyed reading about me! See you!

Class Text - The Outsiders

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

This term, Ms Walsh's class will be reading the American classic -The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton (1967).

"According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers and socs. A soc (short for "social") has money, can get away with just about anything, and has an attitude longer than a limousine. A greaser, on the other hand, always lives on the outside and needs to watch his back. Ponyboy is a greaser, and he's always been proud of it, even willing to rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers--until one terrible night..."
Stay tuned to read the thoughts of the class contributors.
